VariableSizedWrapGrid Orientation ignored RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello. I try to set up a VariableSizedWrapGrid to have Orientation Vertical, and it is ignored whatever I do. It always renders item by-column. I've tried everything: setting up a width on it, on its parent GridView, actively changing its ScrollViewer properties (scrollbar visibility etc), everything. Both item width and item height are set.

I managed a workaround (setting up scrollviewer on the parent GridView and setting the wrap grid's height), which provides for vertical scrolling, but still the order of items is not good (they are populated column-by-column instead of row-by-row).

Does anybody have a clue why a VariableSizedWrapGrid would ignore its Orientation property? Where should I look?

  • Hi,

    See VariableSizedWrapGrid.Orientation property

When you set Orientation property to Vertical the grid adds items in columns from top to bottom, then wraps from left to right.

What effect do you want to achieve? If you set the Orientation property to horizontal, items can render in rows.

    Best Wishes!

  • You're right! I had been confused. So  vertical VariableSizedWrapGrid actually scrolls... horizontally!
