We want to migrate our IIS websites from Windows server 2003 to Windows server 2012 r2. We want to have high availability and wondering what is the best solution for this. Failover clustering? I read this guide:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/970759

which was written before IIS 8,5 so I am wondering is there similar guide for IIS 8,5? As in Windows Server 2012 r2 there is scale-out file server role which probably can be used in such scenario.

    I also found this topic:

    http://forums.iis.net/t/1207946.aspx?Windows+Server+2012R2+FailOverCluster

which suggest to not use failover clustering for IIS at all and use web farm instead. Can anyone explain why and what are technical differences?
