Preview pane locks files? RRS feed

  • Question

  • The preview pane in Windows Vista/7 seems to hold locks on files for a significant length of time (1-12 seconds).  There are some posts on other forms (windowssearch for example) with people having the same problem, but no real solution other than "turn it off".  Is there any official Microsoft fix (either completed or planned) or at least an official Microsoft response to this issue?  We have a file replication application that this greatly affects.
