Error in installing .Net3.5.1 features, return code: 0xbc9 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to install .net framework 3.5.1 in OS Windows7SP1. but encounter error code 0xbc9 and error message to use "Turn on/off Windows features in control panle" to install 3.5.

What happened to me is that there's no entry named "**.Net Framwork 3.5.1**" in Windows features' window at all.

Is there a way I solve this problem?

  • In Win 7, the entry is "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1".

If your don't find that entry in your Windows Features list, that indicates serious issues with your OS.

As .NET Framework 3.5.1 comes embedded in the OS, there is only one repair technique available:

Don't be put off by the title. As the author says, it works for Win 7 as well.

In case your issue is related to display in the Windows Features list, you can check for .NET Frameworks on your system as follows:

    Use this tool:

Run the tool with .NET 3.5 selected, then post the first 12 lines AND the last 12 lines of the tool log here.

  • Thank you very much for your reply.

By running sfc.exe, it repaired the windows features and also now we got "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1".

Also, I run the setup_verifier after the repair and logs as below.
