Help with Averages in Visual Studio! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

    I am making changes to an application developed with VS 2010. I'm currently working on a ActiveReports6 report. In the report, there is a column of integers which are generated by a DateDiff command. I need to take the average of these integers. In other words, I need the sum of the integers in the column divided by the number of rows within the column. However, the number of rows in the report can vary because the user can narrow results by selecting a certain date range.

    I cannot do this logic in SQL Server because the datediff commands are done in VS. Also, I need the results to be a whole number and not with decimal places.

    I've been stumped by this all day and appreciate your help.

  • You might be better off at the Active Reports support forums;

    It's not a microsoft product so there won't be that many people around here with expertise in it.

    As a general concept, there is probably a expression in which you can use standard objects on the report to create totals, averages, etc. At least that's how MS Report Viewer does it and Crystal does it. I don't know about Active Reports.
