Exchange 2013 EWS: SMTP address has no mailbox associated with it RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a home lab and have installed exchange 2013 that is CAS as well as mailbox server. I also have CU15 installed on it. When I make any impersonation call using c# to add contact to a mailbox, i get "SMTP address has no mailbox associated with it". I have added ApplicationImpersonation role under permissions and added my "admin" account in it but still no luck.

    any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    You should set ExchangeService.ImpersonatedUserId before attempting to make any changes to target mailbox.

    service.ImpersonatedUserId = new ImpersonatedUserId(ConnectingIdType.SmtpAddress, "targetuser@domain.com");

    Seems your code is trying to make changes to Admin account you created for impersonation, and that admin account is simple AD user, with no mailbox.
