getting sources super slow RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Get Sources is taking a very very long time.

We have a solution with about 70 projects, and we are looking at about 20 minutes of getting sources time; about 2 minutes of build time.

    Whats the issue?

  • Probably you are downloading a lot of source! :-)

First off, I would suggest that you look into the workspace mapping for your team build. You are probably mapping the
root of your team project to your build, which will cause the whole source tree to download every time.

Set the workspace mapping root (solution root) to the lowest possible node in your source tree.

You can also use cloaking in your workspace mapping to exclude folders that contain huge/lots of files.

If you still have problem with download time, look into the IncrementalGet property. This will cause only the
    modified files to be downloaded:

    Hope that helps
