saving parameters in excel web access webpart RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Is it possible to save parameters in excel web access webpart? for eg, a user enters some parameters and he wants the next user to see what parametrs the previous user has entered..is this possible in excel services?

    please help??

    am thinking of couple of options:

    1) setting up a sharepoint list form (InfoPath) and then provision a InfoPath form webpart, which will then send values from the form webpart to the EWA. However, InfoPath form webpart "Send Data to" webpart connection is greyed out.

    2) use some javascript which will access the dom of the input parameters and then create a list item upon a button click. The created list item will have a user name entered by the user and the list of all parameter values.

    and a dropdown with a list of users which upon selection would show all the parameters in the parameter task pane.

    Any thoughts?

    You could save your parameters as custom document properties to the Excel file. You would read/write the properties using Open XML. 

    Here is an similar example for Word:
