Does Customization of DispForm.aspx require deploy ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all ,

I am novice in sharepoint territory . My requirement is , i wanted to change DispForm.aspx associated with one of the list . It includes changing display format , some styling .

While searching this , i came to know that We can edit a page using sharepoint designer by browsing portal URL .

Question is , if we change something in DispForm.aspx , does it require deploy of code on site as we do in Asp.net applications ?

Any help will be really appreciated .

    Thanks

    Siddhesh

  • Hi Siddesh,

Sort of depends on how you want to do it.  If you're wantng to make some changes to a deployed / custom list that's already in use, just take a back-up of the page and edit that.  You can set the Custom_DispForm.aspx (or whatever you want to call it) as the default form.

If you want to change the form attached to a content type for deployment elsewhere, or for back-up / DR purposes, then you'll probably be looking at packaging and deploying in a WSP.
