Web SDK: Adjust adaptive sampling to prevent burst throttling on application start

    General discussion

  • If you have a high volume application you can be burst throttled on application start even if you use adaptive sampling. The reason is that adaptive sampling needs some time to collect you application statistics to set an optimal sampling rate. That would result in SDK accumulating data in local storage (since data sending would be stopped) and less effective data collection initially.

To change that you could set initial sampling interval to something low (e.g. 10% or some percentage that you know is good for you app). Adaptive sampling will adjust this rate in 2-5 minutes but it needs to collect statistics first before it kicks in.

You can do that by adding InitialSamplingPercentage tag under  AdaptiveSamplingTelemetryProcessor processor tag.
