Connect to Non-Microsoft LDAP Server - Error RRS feed

    I'm trying to connect to a Non-Microsoft LDAP (Unix) Server, the NativeObject always throws out "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." error.

    I have PuTTY (telnet/SSH client) with an AIX id and password,  I can open the port using it, and I'm able to connect to the ldap server without any issues interactively using Jxplorer, and I'm able to browse the data as well.    I connect to the Jxplorer by giving Host name as localhost, Protocol as LDAP v3, port number, and a User DN and Password.

    However the following piece of .NET code doesn't work, and give me the above error while accessing the NativeObject of the Directory Entry.

    How do we pass the root folder's user name (manager user?) and password to the directory string?

    Public Function GetDirectoryEntry() As DirectoryEntry
            Dim dirEntry As DirectoryEntry

            _path = "LDAP://xx.xxx.xxx.xx/dc=FOLDER1,dc=FOLDER2"

            dirEntry = New DirectoryEntry(_path, "rootuser", "password")
            Return dirEntry

    End Function

    Can someone he'p?

    Is it true that Microsoft doesn't support binding when we open through SSH Port tunelling?
