Attempt to update the App Cert Kit results in error.

    Question

  • When I run the App Cert Kit, it tells me that there is an update available.  I then follow that link and download the install, but when I try and install it, I get the error 'The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.'.  Note that the version of the Cert Kit that I currently have installed runs fine, but how do I get the update?

    Thanks.

  • Hi John Gaby,

It looks you have downloaded the Windows RT version.

Please click the first download button on the left to download the Windows SDK installer, run it and you will be prompt for the options to install the Windows App Certification Kit.

    Best regards,
