Unable to delete disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm unable to delete a disk under the Virtual Machines tab. I currently have no VMs running. I was referred here after contacting support. Under the disk tab, the 'Delete' button is simply grayed out.

Any idea how I can proceed to delete this disk?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Tech163,

Based on above info I can see that your VM elijah, was delated however the VHD is still attached to same VM and thats why you can not delete it. This potentially is an issue.

Would you please send me an email at iaasforum@microsoft.com along with the following info:

  • Hello Tech163,

Looking into your screen it is visible that yours VHD is still attached to something and as long as VHD is attached to any VM, the "Delete" option will be grayed out.

When you say you do not have any VM running "Is it possible that VM are in stopped or you have turn them shopped?" Because even when a VM is not running the VHD can still be attached to that Virtual Machine so if you want to delete the VHD, please remove the virtual machine first completely and only then you will be able to delete the VHD using above shows steps.

If you have deleted your Virtual Machine and your virtual machines is not listed, and you still see VHD attached to VM and could not delete it, it sure is a problem and we will investigate it. Please verify above steps and if you still could not delete the VHD, I will provide you next step.

    Regards!

  • Hi Avkash,

My virtual machine is not listed, or at least nothing is showing up under that tab. I was led here after contacting support. If you can help in any way I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!
