Kinect 2.0 - USB 3.0 compatibility RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!
So I'm looking into hardware specs before I buy a kinect V2. Downloaded the Kinect configuration verifier. Everythin is ok (except kinect and software as i haven't bought/installed them yet.) except the USB 3.0.

I have an Asus G74sx Laptop with a usb port. But verifier says:

"Checks your USB controllers for Kinect for Windows v2 compatibility

Result: No supported USB 3.0 port detected "

How could I get it o recognize the USB 3.0 port? Or it's just no way it's going to work?

EDIT:I don't know if this helps but It's apparently a Fresco USB controller.

  • It might work, but it might not, some new Intel's are undetected...I'm guessing MS didn't update least not until new SDK's version.

Your best hchance would be to see if anyone online managed to start Kinect demos (not the verifier) with your laptop/controller or get a confirmed compatible USB 3.0 extension card which should work fine.

Also, there might be some cases people force installed Intel/MS original drivers instead of OEM ones to make it work...but I'm sorry there's not much more you can do without trying with a real Kinect v2 yourself...also, take note, there's two versions, for Windows and Xbox, prefer Windows for SDK stability (at least that's my experience).
