OData Feed in Excel 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Using the excel reporting setup details provided in Support office, I am able to configure excel 2013 and pull project server data to excel.

When i am using the same excel file with the connection details in another laptop and in Excel 2010, I am not able to refresh the data model. Clicking on the data model does nothing.

    1. please tell if we can use OData Feed in Excel 2010.

    2. If not possible, what way Excel reporting of PWA possible in Excel 2010.

    3. Will there be compatible issue if data connection created in Excel 2013 and Excel 2010 for PWA.

Note: Project server 2013 is used.

    Thanks,

    Prasanna

  • If you are using on-premises Project Server, then you can use Office Data Connections which use SQL or connection to OLAP to pull the data. This works for both Excel 2010/2013 and for Project Server 2010/2013.

Excel 2010 doesn't support OData. Only 2013 and later.

If you are using Project Online, you must use Excel 2013 or later for reporting as only OData is available. If you have this situation, I'd suggest looking at the new Power BI Desktop as a better way to create dashboards.
