Find all the links to missing files

    Question

  • Hi,

We have a solution with 11 ASP.NET web projects.  There's a lot of them which have links to files that doesn't exist anymore.  Is there any possible way which is fast to look in all projects and find the links (usually relative) that point to missing files ?

So we can know which files are missing !

Any kind of way other than going manually would be appreciated.

  • Hi CubiGear,

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

What’s your VS version? Like Juliano Nunes Silva Oliveira said, if your VS version is VS 2013 or 2015, you can try to use the “Show Missing Files” through directly download from the VS Gallery or Tools-Extensions and Updates…, this extension looks for file references in projects that refer to files that do not physically exist on the file system. It can also optionally warn about files on disk that are not included in a project. I have tried to install it on my local and have a test, it looks helpful as the following:

    Best regards,

    Sara
