  • Hi Tareq,

According to your description, you got an error when you opened any sites with SharePoint 2013 Designer.

There are some probable causes for this issue:
1.Anonymous authentication is not configured for the problematic web application in IIS
Fix: Enable Anonymous authentication in IIS
2.Server is running out of memory
Fix: Free up memory on the server

Here are two similar posts for you to take a look at:

    I hope this helps.

  • Thank you sir for your response,

The Anonymous authentication is configured to Enable at IIS

    also ASP.NET

    and Windows authentication.

also the server is new and memory is about 80% free, as the Hard disk also.

  • this seems to be known issue and MSFT working on check here.

before deleting the templates, You saved them, so you could get them back when needed.

()We have noticed this issue, and our engineers are tinvestigating on it and trying their utmost to fix it.
I’d like to confirm if there are any STP files in the list template gallery for the time being:
    1. Login to the site collection that unable to connect to SharePoint Designer 2013.
    2. Navigate to the “Gear” button on the top right of the site.
    3. Click Site Settings >Web Design Galleries >List Templates.
    4. Check to see if there are any STP files.

and if no STP files then delete all templates ( but save them before deleting).

  • Hi Tareq,

Please open registry editor by Start-> click Run, type regedit and open regedit.exe, then find ClientGUID by clicking HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft SharePoint Designer\Settings\Open Site, and delete it. After that , open a site with SharePoint Designer 2013, and compare the result.

If this issue still exists, I recommend you reinstall SharePoint Designer 2013 and Workflow Manager.

    I hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Wendy

  • Hi all,

Are we really saying that for one to use SharePoint Designer 2013, one has to enable Anonymous Authentication? This would be a major security gap in one's deployment. But given the above comments in this thread, and this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2758431, it sound like we have to enable Anonymous Authentication in order to use SharePoint Designer 2013 with SharePoint Server 2013.

Is this the advice and solution you are giving?

In my case, all of a sudden I get the same vague SharePoint Designer 2013 'Object Moved' error. We performed no updates within the past two weeks. Also, Extended Protection has never been enabled. The only way I could fix the system so that we could use SharePoint Designer 2013 again was to enable Anonymous Authentication, but I can't leave it like this.

    Thanks.

    Radu P.

  • What solved your problem?  And how come Msft ignores these frequent authentication issues and refuses to fix them?
