Customize Project Server Workspaces RRS feed

  • Question

  • Experts, we have about 2000 WSS workspaces in PS 2007/MOSS 2007. We need to make some changes to the workspaces by adding a couple of custom lists to each one. what would it take to do that via programming or in a batch fashion vs. having to change each one seperatley? I posted a question in the Project Server forum but was directed to post it here

    thank you,

    Hadi Eissa

  • I would create a new SharePoint solution and then loop thru all the project workspaces and apply the solution.

  • Poor Hadie, he asked this question a few days ago, got the response to ask it in Sharepoint Forum. He posted above question in Sharepoint forum and then it was moved back to Project Server forum by Mike Walsh - where he is asked again to post this question to Sharepoint forum....

    Hadie,

I suggest to ask your question without mentioning Project Server in Sharepoint forum. "You have a lot of workspaces on MOSS2007 and want to make some changes to the workspaces by adding a couple of custom lists to each one." No need to mention that they had been created by Project Server ;-).
Or avoid "Project Server" in your head line and explain, that you had been asked to post your question to Sharepoint experts, since it is a Sharepoint question.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Hadie,

If you could explain a little more on what kind of changes are you planning to push, we might be able to suggest you some tool
which might be already available to accomodate your requirement :) if any other than just creating libraries , Just for eg.  use SUSHI.exe for creating batch lists / libraries

    refer to http://sushi.codeplex.com/releases/view/22248

  • Hi Guys, I am glad i came back and checked on this posting. I have given up on it last week. The Sushi tool might be able to do the job I just have to study it some more

I basically need to modify an existing custom list (called Project Information). The list is very simple and has 3 text fields associated with it. One of the text fields needs to be removed and added to a new custom list that we need to create. additionally all data currently present in that field need to be migrated over

We also need to create a brand new custom list called "Variance List explaination" that will include some 12 fields (text, drop downs, yes/no, etc)

    can SUSHI do all that?

    just check the URL http://sushi.codeplex.com/releases/view/22248

As per your requirement it can push the changes to all subsites in one go :), Have a look
