Report Builder 3.0

Question
-
Hi All,
We are evaluating Report Builder 3.0 currently and one of the questions we haven't got a clear answer to is why are users required to write SQL queries when building reports? We were told that this product is aimed at business users.
Any thoughts/advise is highly appreciated.

Hello,
Somehow you have to get the data for the report. One option is to write SQL for the dataset. Here I prefer to provide stored procedure to get the data; your database developer could create them.
An other option is to use "Shared Datasets", predefined queries deployed to SSRS; see Manage Shared Datasets and Create a Shared Dataset or Embedded Dataset (Report Builder and SSRS)

You do not need to. You can use the report Builder 3.0 user interface. You can do a lot with this tool.
There are plenty of posts and free resources on report builder 2.0 and 3.0 here:
