  • Hi,

In a WCF-Custom adapter port you choose the WCF binding (standard ones or custom ones) that you want to use. The standard bindings are wsHttpBinding, netTcpBinding, etc. OracleDbBinding and SqlBinding are themselves custom bindings. The WCF based SQL Adapter can be used to connect BizTalk applications to SQL Server. That is difference, but WCF-SQL uses sqlbinding as you can choose for sqlbinding in custom WCF-Adapter. Basically WCF-SQL Adapter is to be configured as WCF-Custom.

  • The custom adapter frees you to implement WCF transports as you wish.  This can be very useful, but if there is already a WCF adapter in place, then use this.

So in your scenario, unless you need something the WCF-SQL adapter doesn't offer, use it as it saves you having to do extra work and keeps things simple.
