DNS request not working in Windows 7 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi Experts,

The NDIS driver is developed for the Windows 7 OS. The DNS server is not responding back to the DNS request from the Windows 7 NDIS driver. But the same driver works with in Windows 8.1

I tried analyzing the DNS packets but it remains same except for checksum in both the cases. What could be the reason for not receiving the response back from the DNS server.

  • HI Pavel,

I have run the WHCK containing NDIS test for the same.

As per my understanding the DNS packet is generated by the browser but not the driver. Is there any way other way to resolve the same ?

I am able to ping the common server like where as site resolving is not working.

Am using MB driver through USB interface in Windows 7.

  • Hi Pavel,

    Thanks for the reply.

But the for the same DNS packet's response is received in Windows 8.1 but not in Windows 7. Is there any OS specific reason for the same ?

Any log or traces that could help in resolving the issue ?

  • Hi Pavel,

Yeah feeling good to know that 8.1 is handling in a better way.

I checked DNS querry packet in both windows 8.1 and 7

Packet identifier only changes in both the log whereas additional records remains the same in DNS query packet.
