SP 2010 Upgrade from SP1 to June 2012 CU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am going to upgade our SharePoint 2010 install from SP1 to June 2012 CU.

I know I need to do Foundation then Server, then run Config Wizard + anything on CU.

    Question is this,

    Do I need to do

June 2011 CU, October 2011 CU ...  all the way to June 2012 CU,

or do I just grab June 2012 CU for foundation and server.  I am assuming Cumaltive means just that, that

I can just do the June 2012 CU and skip all in between?

  • Hi, I'm going through this right now. The June 2012 CU installation file combines SP 2010 foundation and server. So their is only one file to download and run. You are correct about what cumulative means. The June 2012 CU includes all hotfixes after SP1. It's about a 1gig download.

If you have any customizations I suggest you take an inventory of those before you move forward. Some of our custom webparts and solutions use the .Net framework ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll and the products and config wizard fails on step 9 with an error.

Quest sharepoint server administrator is a free tool that makes it easy to identify customizations.

We are building out another environment to install the latest CU w/o customiztions to try to identify what the problem is.

  • Hi,

Just install June 2010 CU for SharePoint Server and it will cover all the previous CUs and foundation CUs and then run configuration wizard
