I am running on windows XP IIS 5.1

When I try to go into localhost in IE it works fine but in Firefox it asks me to enter user name and password.

In my IIS configuration I have ticked to use Anonymoous access under Authentication.

Can any of you guys be kind to explain me whats going on.

Even though, it's Anonymous, IIS still has to access the files as a user. Did you check that the IUSR_MachineName has access to the folder. Maybe you saved the password for IE.

Can you please tell me what folder you are talking about. Also I have found the following error message on Event log.

aspnet_wp.exe could not be started. The error code for the failure is 80004005. This error can be caused when the worker process account has insufficient rights to read the .NET Framework files. Please ensure that the .NET Framework is correctly installed and that the ACLs on the installation directory allow access to the configured account.

The folder that you keep website files.

IE has integrated security with your windows login while Firefox does not.
