Biztalk 2016 cluster without shared storage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

is it possible, to create a cluster active/active for biztalk server nodes(not sql nodes) to cluster some hosts without a shared storage? please note that I have to add dependencies to DTC for these clustered hosts as suggested suggested here :

    https://www.biztalkadmin.com/biztalk-active-active-cluster-and-msdtc/

    thanks for your help

  • For clarity, clustering BizTalk Host Instances does not require any shared storage or clustered DTC.

The only documented requirement is Network Name + IP Address resource.

  • As of SQL Server 2008 R2, clustering DTC is not required at any level.  A clustered DTC was never a requirement for BizTalk Host Instances.

  • Thanks Johns-305 for these answers. I'm installing a new BTS 2016 with SQL Server 2016 and I'll mark your response as an answer when it works.

  • If you have any send/recive location writing to file based logs it would be convenient to use "shared" storage, could be a network storage (shared folder)
Same goes for IIS log files if you're using isolated bts hosts

Another option is to collect all log files from each server to a centralized log repository
