MS analyzers - get lemmas? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi - documentation for the MS analyzers explain that they perform lemmatization. Is it possible to use the API to get those lemmas? So far, I've only found a way to see how an analyzer tokenizes, but not how it lemmatizes.

Thanks in advance for any info.

  • Hi Kevin,

We have an API that does the opposite, for a given list of words: run, runs, ran and running, it returns run as the lemma.

Here you can find more details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/searchservice/language-support and here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/language-support-in-azure-search/                                  MS Analyzer name: en.microsoft.

    Thanks,
    Revital.

  • Hi Revital - if you mean that there is an API that, given input 'runs', 'running' etc., it will return 'run', this is just what I need. But I'd read the linked articles and haven't been able to find anything there or in documentation elsewhere on the details of such an API. Could you point me towards a more specific page? I'm talking about an API that will return the value 'run' for that input, not something that will just produce the value 'run' to be stored internally in an index in a way that's not directly accessible.

    Thanks for any further info

    Kevin
