Is it possible to drop files on Modern Apps? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I registered a "drop" listener on my apps document but I seem to be unable to drop files on the app when running on a second monitor.

  • It doesn't seem to be so far as I can tell. I just tried dragging a file from the legacy Windows desktop interface over to the Modern UI mail app's compose screen and it didn't work.

I believe the "drop" event is going to only be for elements inside your app that you are dragging and dropping.

  • Hi Phil,

So far I believe the "Sharing Contract", "Clipboard" and "local files" are the ways for Windows Store apps to exchange between each other.

  • Yes, seems like dropping onto wwahost.exe windows is not support for reasons only known to MSFT. Steven could you please reach out to the product team and ask why this is prevented?
