Connecting Azure blob file (TSV) in MS Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • We Have a scenario where we want to fetch TSV file which is placed in azure blob.

We want to connect to azure blob file into MS Access, so that we can fetch data from blob file into MS Access and save data from MS Access to azure blob.

Is there any way or a kind of extension to achieve this.

    Thanks,

    Bhakti

  • Do you mean Azure as Azure SQL ?

  • Azure, basically we want linking to azure blob storage files.

Azure SQL will not work in our case, as data is present in blob files.

    Hi Bhakti,

Never used TSV-files, but as I understood, they look like CSV-files: Instead of the comma, the TSV-fields are separated by a Tab, and instead of CrLf, a "\n" is used as line separator. You can even try if you can read such a file with Excel.

I do not know if you can define the field separator and line separator in the Access import routines, else you can make your own.

  • Yes tsv are similar to csv.

The issue which I am facing is - my file (csv or tsv) is present in azure blob and not on physical machine.

And I want to create a linked table, for such file.

so that any change in the file - should get updated in MS Access table - immediately. (because of linked table)

    Thanks,

    Bhakti

    Hi Bhakti,

What happens if you make a link to that table. I use the Dutch version and translate it to English, so perhaps I use wrong words.

    Goto:
    - File
    - External Data
    - Couple Tables
    - Choose Filetype: Tekst Files (*.tab)
    - Select the file

  • Thanks for your response, but my problem statement is different.

I want to make connection (or import data from or link to) Azure Storage blob.

Azure storage blob will have tsv / excel / csv files, containing data.

    Thanks,

    Bhakti
