Visual Studio Enterprise Edition 2015 - Javascript Syntax Highlighting not working.

    Question

  • Morning all,

I had been using Visual Studio 2015 for around 3-4 months without any issues.

Just prior to Update 1, any JavaScript opened within VS displays as black text, without any formatting or highlighting.

I have followed many guides online and I have even done a full uninstall/reinstall of the whole software to no avail

Does anyone have any suggestions, happy to assist with more info required.

  • Hi Matty Kyle,

    Thanks for your post.

I did a test in my side using VS2015 Update1. And it works well.

If possible, please provide us a screenshot of your JS file UI.

Could you please tell me how did you open the javascript file?

    Please open with “TypeScriptEditor(Default)”.

If you open your JS file with “TypeScriptEditor(Default)”. But still displays as black text.

I suppose there might be some settings affect it.

I suggest you could reset the setting of your Visual Studio then try it again. (Tools->Import and Export settings->Reset all Settings)

By the way, please also try to create a new javascript file and try it again.

If it displays correctly for a new created javascript file.

I think the problem is in your orginal javascript file . You could create a new javascript file and copy the code into it.

    Best Regards,

    Lake Xiao
