Connected Standby and Hyper-V RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since Connected Standby hardware does not seem available (correct me if I am wrong here), can we somehow simulate Connected Standby for capability testing with Hyper-V?

  • You might want to watch Pat Stemen's //build/ session "Understanding Connected Standby" at http://channel9.msdn.com/events/BUILD/BUILD2011/HW-456T for more info about Connected Standby.

I don't believe there is a way to simulate Connected Stndby at this time.
Others may correct me if I am wrong.

  • Yea, I attended the presentation in-person. The technology seems pretty impressive.

The problem is there doesn't seem to be any way to actually do compatiblity testing (physical or virtual) given the lack of hardware available and lack of Hyper-V support.

  • Hi Jim,

Look at the thread in another post that gives much more detailed information about Connected Standby. I have been doing some searching since I answered your post and found this post.

Jeffrey Tippett (MSFT) states no existing systems have Connected Standby available.

Sorry, I am not an expert on this component.
