Binding Your Domain Account to Your Windows Live! ID (WLID). Security

    Question

  • Hello,

I see the new feature to bind domain account to your Windows Live! ID (WLID).

What data will be shared across the accounts? Isn't there a risk of exposing corporate data in public?

Vice versa, is there a risk of exposing your privacy in corporate environment?

    Thank you.

P.S.: Of course there's always a risk but still it is good to know what you could expect.

    P.P.S. I love the feature!

The button to do so doesn't seem to be active in this build. I can click it
    but it has no effect.

  • I can't say for sure whether risk exists, or whether this is the only data that is shared. But check out the "Sync PC Settings" to see the type of data that you can control roaming for:

    • Personalize
    • Themes
    • Ease of Access
    • Language preferences
    • App Settings
    • Web browser
    • Other stuff (taskbar, account picture)
    • Some passwords

An interesting one here is Settings. But I guess inner-company apps should be written with this in mind and use LocalSettings instead of RoamingSettings.
