Workflow Actions

Question
-
I have an issue here which I am not able to figure out. It will be great if someone can assist me.
I am trying to use the action "Set Field in Current Item" It is working for all my fields except one. I am able to select the problematic field in the drop down and assign a value to it. But when the workflow is executed i get a value of "Unknown". It is not populating the custom value I set in workflow designer. I tried giving various values and even tried renaming the field to see if it would work.
I have also reordered the actions to see if it might work, even that did not work.
Thanks!

Hi Kelly,
As you have said that "Its a single line of text with 255 characters as length. Enforce unique vales and require that column contains information is No."
You have enforce the unique vales for the filed. So maybe when you run the workflow, it sets the same value for a unique filed.
So just set Enforce unique vales to no for the filed.

Hi,
From your description, you can "Set Field in Current Item" for all your fields except one.
To further help you, I would like to know which filed you can't Set Field to. Whether it is a build in filed or a custom filed.
Besides, you can use the Action "Update List Item" and set your filed to a value. Compare whether the issue is solved.
I am looking to you reply back.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for looking into it, My field is custom and tried Update as well as Set. None of these options seem to work.

Here is something you can try:
Create another text field and set that with the same value your are setting the problematic field with or send an email to yourself with that value - To see if the value is clean or have any unnecessary strings attached to it.

I do understand it, there are other fields in the workflow which are getting updated with the exception of this one. The value it is getting updated to is user. So I don't see any string issues.

Can you check in the column settings for this particular column? It's a bit of a longshot I'm wondering if a calculated column formula is in the default setting, which might be expecting a particular format for any incoming data.
And can you also advise what you're trying to set it to within the workflow. If the column itself isn't the problem than there might be something problematic with what you're aiming to put in there.

Hi Steven,
I have the default value as text and not calculated value. I am not sure if I am looking at what you are looking for.
This workflow updates an InfoPath form and it has a field called ActionRequestedBy and I am setting it to the string user.
