  • Question

  • Looks like all the 3D support isn't baked in for Metro style applications build using C# using XAML. Is there another place/library that can be used to add this functionality back?

If this isn't available, is it the case that Metro style 3D applications can only be built using C++ (raw DirectX) or HTML?

Answers

  • Correct.  The Windows Developer Preview does not include 3D support in Xaml or any way to render Xaml onto a Direct3D surface or to render a Direct3D surface into Xaml.

The Windows Developer Preview provides Direct3D support only for C++.

There are 3rd party libraries being worked on to call Direct3D from managed Metro style apps.
