Is there any way to support custom fields with LINQ ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Users are able to add custom fields to entities in run-time. Is there any way how I can handle changes to the DB, and model and somehow add these custom field into the existing C# classes?

Can I use LINQ to get generated SQL generation based on the model and without mapped C# class?

    Thanks,

      Anton

  • Did you ever find a solution for this?

  • How are you adding custom fields to your entity exactly, is it a key/value pair?

There is no specific support in LINQ to SQL to add/remove fields in the underlying database but it may be possible to have them contained in a key/value associated table or perhaps packed/unpacked into single large field in the underlying table specific for that purpose.
