TFS 2015 licensing requirement RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My organisation is considering moving from TFS 2010 SP1 to TFS 2015 and I am trying to make sense of the licensing requirements for TFS 2015.

Our AS-IS situation is as follows:

    • Single server TFS 2010 SP1
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard (we went for this option as it came "free" with our TFS 2010 license)
    • WSS 3.0 (again free)
    • 70 CALs

We use almost all features of TFS 2010 (including Team Build and Test Manager).

The TO-BE situation (based on Microsoft's system requirements for TFS 2015):

    • TFS 2015
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 - we don't want to upgrade the OS or the hardware
    • SQL Server 2014
    • SharePoint 2013

    Questions:

    1. Is it possible to buy a product/licence that covers TFS 2015, SQL Server 2014 and SharePoint 2013 for our single server install?
    2. Or, do we need to buy separate SQL server 2014 licence and SharePoint 2013 licences?
    3. Do we need to buy 70 new TFS 2015 CALs?

    Thanks in advance...
