persisting VSPackage toolwindow position RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am writing a C++ VSPackage for VS2005 and VS2008.  In my package, I create a toolwindow.  I run Visual studio and the toolwindow works as I intend.  However, when I reposition the toolwindow, exit Visual Studio and relaunch it, it does not maintain the previous position of the toolwindow that I had set.  For add-ins, this worked for me without any additional coding on my part.

How do I get it so the toolwindow remembers its position on each subsequent launch of the IDE?

I used MitWin sample as a template for my implementation.  Instead of hosting a dialog in the IVSWindowPane, I host my own ActiveX control.

  • Hello greeneyes,

I have tested that MitWin sample can correctly persist and load tool window layout information.
Do you just replace the control in the tool window?
Have you changed any code in tool window panel or package class?
Have you specified unique guid and id for the tool window, which is used to persist the layout data?

You'd better copy your code here if possible. Thanks.
