Redirections.xml includes not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've setup FSLogix but I can't seem to get my head around the Redirections.xml functionality.

    I don't want to redirect local appdata to my virtual disk. So my config looks as follows:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <FrxProfileFolderRedirection ExcludeCommonFolders="255">
    	<Includes>
    		<Include>AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database</Include>
    		<Include>AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer</Include>
    	</Includes>
    	<Excludes>
    		<Exclude>AppData\Local</Exclude>
    	</Excludes>
    </FrxProfileFolderRedirection>

    Appdata local is excluded just fine, but when I go to: %LocalAppdata%\TileDataLayer the database folder is inaccessible.

    Cannot post a screenshot yet. Basically it says the folder in inaccessible.

    This also causes Windows to show a black screen when you login: (eventvwr entry):

    svchost (2132) TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-21-3088696008-3791721654-905387703-1109: Error -1023 (0xfffffc01) occurred while opening logfile C:\Users\gerben\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log.

    The same happens for other includes. First I tried to include Chrome because it tends to write to the local appdata. Same problem the included folder becomes inaccessible.

    FSLogix log entries are as follows:

    [16:11:30.384][tid:00000584.000011f4][INFO]             Creating base folder 'AppData\Local\Test\'
    [16:11:30.478][tid:00000584.000011f4][INFO] Adding include rule for folder 'AppData\Local\Test\'
    [16:11:30.478][tid:00000584.000011f4][INFO]             Added redirection C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Test -> \??\Volume{1333e8d4-4bcd-423e-b410-456b590bf814}\Profile\AppData\Local\Test
    So it is forwarding the files to the correct (profile disk) location.

    I also don't understand why FsLogix wants to keep the local appdata in the first place, why would you want to write volatile data tot the network that is not needed for the next session?

  • You can only include subfolders of something that's already been excluded.  Your excludes must come first in the redirections.xml file.
