Azure Data Factory project is not running RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created, Azure data factory to copy data from Azure SQL Table to Blob storage. Dataset, table and pipeline created successfully. But it's not running...

Status is showing: Pending execution, when I right click and select 'Run', nothing is happening.

    Thanks,

    Pramod

  • Pipeline was deployed with attribute Ispaused=true, that's why pipeline was not executing. It works fine after setting Ispaused="False"

  • Hi Pramod,

First - thanks for trying out Azure Data Factory, and sorry you are facing trouble with it.

Second - can you clarify which table you see which slice status:

When you go to the Diagram view on the web portal, I expect you will see a table (your Azure SQL DB) as a starting point #1, with arrow going into the pipeline that has the copy activity #2, and another arrow to the destination table #3 in Blob Storage.

Are the arrows linking the 3 as expected?

When you click on the #1 table, does it show various time slices? Is that showing the slices in the Ready state, or is it in another state?

When you click on the #3 table, does it show the Pending Execution state that you mentioned?

Thanks for clarifying what you see.

Third - There is a common issue, describe here http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/data-factory-troubleshoot/

See heading Problem: Input slices are in PendingExecution or PendingValidation state for ever

Check your waitOnExternal property set to for each table.

    Best Regards, Jason

  • Hello Michael,

I am following the Getting Started tutorial and seeing a similar problem. I do have waitOnExternal set. However my Upstream slices are not created at all. I see a whole bunch of slices in the receiving DataSet and they all are in Pending Execution. But in the source DataSet there is no slices at all. What am I doing wrong?

    TIA,

    Alex
