Availability groups are running only on first node after patching. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

We have 3 node cluster where each node has 2 availability groups. Our monthly patching cycle will do the patching of all nodes one by one with  one hour Gap( A node - 6 pm , B node 7pm , C node 8pm ). After the patching all our availability groups are running under one node( Eg B Node) . Is there any way we can go back to one node having  2 availability group without manual intervention ?

    Thanks in Advance!

  • Yes a single node can have 2 or more than 2 AG's running on it. As a fact i your scenario when patching is going on a single node can have many primary replicas.

Sorry I did not get your question. 2 AG's mean 2 primary replicas of AG on one node ?

I think you can only perform manual failover.
