MAPILogonEx returns 0x80040102 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an InstallShield installer for our application which makes a call into a standalone app we built which then in turn triggers a call to MAPILogonEx.

When we test the standalone application by itself outside of the installer, MAPILogonEx works perfectly fine.    When the standalone app is called through the installer MAPILogonEx returns 0x80040102.   Can anyone explain why this happens?   Is there some permission issues here?  I believe the installer runs with admin rights.   Thanks,

[EDIT]  We found this problem on a windows 7 32 bit machine with Outlook 2007

  • The error is MAPI_E_NO_SUPPORT.

Make sure the installer is not running in the context of the Windows Installer local account (service) that might not even have any profiles.
