Sql and Web Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All

I am very very new to this so I do require a bit of help.

I have two sql queries (saved as views at the moment) which are very basic (they select data for the current day).  I need set up a web service so a user in another branch can click either option 1 or option 2 and the web service will show them if there is any data for that day.

I am using VS2008 and the sql is SQL server 2008.  I understand I can create a web service within SQL Server but I would like to use VS2008 in this instance.

As I say very new to this so any pointers or help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

From your description, if you only need a web service which can query database, you can create an ASP.NET Web Service Application in Visual Studio, and then use ADO.NET to access database. For more information about Creating an ASP.NET Web Service in Visual Studio, please refer to:

In addition, as you posted this question in Visual Studio Report Controls forum, do you have some more requirements of using Report Controls and Reporting Services? If you also need these features in the web service, please post you requirement and feel free to ask.

If you have any question about ASP.NET Web Service, ask in the ASP.NET Web Service forum at the following link would be more appropriate:
