Changing "assigned to" options based on current user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to limit the available people to fill in the Assigned To field on my list. For example:

    • I want to set it up so that if user A is logged in, they can only pick emp1, emp2, or emp3
    • If user B is logged in, they can only pick emp1 and emp2.

I'll have about 4 "users" and a group of about 6 "employees" that I will be creating the options from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron,

SharePoint does not support column level security.

You would need to extend SharePoint to achieve this...

    Take a look here.

  • In business terms, what I'm trying to do is make it so if a junior staff go on the intranet and checks out the task list, that he/she can't assign a previously unassigned task to a senior staff person. If a senior staff person goes to the task list, they should be able to assign one to anybody. So I need to set it up so that when a junior employee goes, if the task is unassigned, they are not able to assign to any senior staff person.

    Thanks for the help all!

  • Hi,

you can use item level permission, on list assign READ permission to junior staff on which status shows "unassigned" and give full control or contribute permission to senior staff.
