Accessing network shares in code RRS feed

  • Question

I'm writing an application that uses Visual Source Safe's automation to access a VSS database that resides on a shared network.  Typically, when a user logs on to the computer and tries to access the VSS database network share, a dialog pops up asking them to provide their credentials.  I would like to be able to do this step in code so that the users don't have to open up Windows Explorer, type in the network share (i.e. \\Server\VSS_folder), and provide their username/password in the "Connect to Server" dialog that is displayed.

I realize that a username/password will need to be provided to the system in order for that person to access the shared network resource, but I want to make the process as transparent to the end user as I can.  Is there a Win32 API function or set of functions that I can use to make this happen?
