  • WPF/E does run in the sidebar, it just won't load images or other external content. See this sample:

I believe the issue involves how WPF/E checks to see if it is running on a website (ie http) or locally in the browser (ie file). The sidebar hosting environment seems to confuse it so that it can't load any content.

  • Do I need to clarify my question? I tried to put a html page containing WPF/E content in Windows Sidebar as a gadget. But it seems that WPF/E doesn't run in Sidebar, it displays a white blank place holder instead of the WPF/E content. Any suggestion?

  • Try using a HTA instead of a HTML file. A HTA has relaxed security restrictions and will force a security model that has local file access.

You can simply rename your HTML file to have the extension .HTA. Don't know if this will work as I never tried it. If it does, you can add an HTA object in the HEAD of the page to control a few parameters.
