  • hi Vinay,

Please go the the network port and configure IPv4 address to static by clicking on 'Advanced' button, then porvide two static IP's of same DHCP in which your iSCSI target IP and initiator IP exists.

Run the test, go the device manager and select your iSCSI adapter, and ping the IP's which you provided at network port of the controller.

    Test will pass surely.

if you think, the solution provided by me solves your query, please mark my comment as answer.

    Thanks,

    Mudit

  • Hi Mudit,

In my test computer i am using only static Ip adress only not dhcp IP. that is
In Nic1 Ip 192.168.5.x and Nic 2 IP: 192.168.6.x but Nic 2 Ip direct connection to DTM studio installed Nic 2 machine.

As per you above solution i am not getting can you please clearly tell me ...

As of i understand u are saying in Nic1 Ip advance IPv4 button need to add 2 more static IP in ipaddress section.

  • Hi Vinay,

For all iSCSI test, you need Disk target, apart from Boot target. You need to connect Disk target from any network adapter other then from which your Boot target is connected. Boot target and disk target should be in same IP address class. For eg, if Boot target ip address is 172.20.50.xx then Disk target also should be 172.20.50.xx.

Now, I'm assuming, you have connected Disk target from other network adapter. In the same network adapter, go to the 'properties' then select 'IPv4' , then 'Advanced' and provide one more Ipv4 address of same class through which you have connected your disk target. So, now you have two IPv4's addresses on network adapter from which Disk target is connected.

Now go to the Advanced property of the iSCSI Adapter on which Boot target is connected, and ping both IP address to test, whether IP's are configured properly or not. if yes, then run the test. While the test runs, it'll ask for the IP to ping and if it successfully ping, the test will pass.

Hope, it's clear to you this time. If it not, please ask again, i'll be happy to assist you.

    Thanks,

    Mudit

  • Hi Mudit,

I am not testing iSCSI HBA test. I am testing only iSCSI disk test that is iscsi target ping test.

192.168.5.8 - Its my target Ip that is storage ip.

As you said for 2 Ip address need to add in network adapter first Ip:192.168.5.10 and second is 192.168.5.11. iSNS server Ip is same machine Ip 192.168.5.10.As per the below diagram is thsi correct or anything need to mention .

If everything is correct which IP i have to ping when its asking for ip to ping i dont know which Ip to ping. Please help me on this.

  • Diagram is not attached in my previous reply. Here is the details.

Once the test started that iscsi pop up came in that.

Target Name : mentioned the target name.

    Target Portal: 3260

    Target Ip : 192.168.5.8

    Initiator Ip: 192.168.5.10

    iSNS Server Ip: same 192.168.5.10

Nic Ipaddress : 192.168.5.11 ( This is the second ip i have added in that network adapter )

Nic IP address 2: left bank 0.0.0.0

Is the above option correct or not. If not let me know

  • Hi Vinay,

I have never iSCSI disk test but it seems the iSCSI HBA ping test is same as iSCSI disk test. in NIC IP address you have to mention second IPV4 address assigned to NIC port.

The IP you have to ping is 192.168.5.10 and 192.168.5.11.

    Thanks,

    Mudit

  • Hi mudit,

I am not getting your point..

I have added the second IPv4 address in NIC Ip address field already thats what i mentioned above  " Nic Ipaddress : 192.168.5.11 ( This is the second ip i have added in that network adapter )"

I have replied 2 conversation for you please read above message.

  • Vinay,

Please read the test description on HCK Controller help. You have to set two IPv4 addresses on the network adapter other then through which your iSCSI disk is connected. here, your Initiator IP and Network address1  is same i.e 192.168.5.10.

Try this, select another network adapter on which no ISCSI disk is connected. Set these two IPs to it 192.168.5.11 and 192.168.5.12.

Initiator Ip and Network Address 1 can't be same. and also no need to give iSNS server IP. I never gave this IP

    Thanks,

    Mudit

  • Hi Mudit,

Thanks for your info . I will try this and let you know.

One more thing in my test computer i didnt install and configure MPIO ( Multi Path) driver and i tested all the testing without MPIO is this ok.

Or do i need to enable MPIO for all the test. If i want to test MPIO can i test separately.

  • Vinay,

As I said in that post, I never ran WHQL in MPIO enabled scenario. if your drive supports MPIO and and you have a MPIO driver separate, then you should run MPIO driver certs too. it's better you can contact MSFT how to qualify iscsi disk driver and MPIO driver together.

    Thanks,

    Mudit

  • Hi Mudit,

I dont have MPIO driver separate. In windows server 2008 default MPIO driver in Add/Remove roles features that we can install rite .  Am I right or wrong.

  • Hi Mudit.

For Ping test its asking for Ping 5 icmp echo request to input Ip.

Which Ip i have to ping and from where i need to ping. IS there any command to ping apart from Ping command.

I dont know which from which Ip to ping 192.168.5.11.

    Monday, January 6, 2014 12:26 PM
  • Vinay,

yes, while running it'll ask for the ping the IP. for ISCSI HBA Ping test, I used to ping the IP's from 'Advanced' tab of ISCSI HBA. In your case, I'm not sure, your iscsi disk is connected to dedicated iSCSI HBA or through network adapter.

Try to ping the IP in command prompt when test asks for it. You can ping any of the 2 IP's assigned on network adapter.

    Monday, January 6, 2014 12:35 PM
  • iscsi connected through network adapter not separate iscsi adapter.

    (In my initiator i have 2 nic.(Nic1 : 192.168.5.10 and Nic 2: 192.168.6.10 )).

Why its automatically detect the iniator Nic2 IP?.
