Query priorities RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way I could launch some sql queries from DBML with lower priority and some with higher?

    I have many heavy queries that run all the time (each of them for about 10 minutes). However I have also some statistical, readonly simple queries that I am launching every 5 or 10 seconds. Those heavy ones blocks database so that those simple small queries cannot execute quick enough.

    Is there a way to fix it without using ResourceGovernor?

  • Hi Martinez999;

    I do not know of any such option as running a query in different priorities. What you can do is to create a new thread and run the heavy queries in that new thread. You could use a object such as a BackgroundWork.

    NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
