  • Dear Mark,

I suppose you are talking about the ActiveX control which is trying to run when you try to download MSDN Products. If yes please allow it to install and run. If other than that please specify.

  • I don't even see the toolbar in IE for Win8 to allow the Active X.  Is MSDN not understand the O/S version correctly?  Is the default for IE on Win8 to not show the ActiveX permission bar?

  • Dear Mark,

You can find the Information Bar which allows you to install ActiveX Control which you can find at the bottom of the page. Please follow the below steps to allow the same.

    • To allow Active X controls to run in Internet Explorer, modify your settings in Internet Explorer with the following steps.
    • Access your Internet options from the Windows Control Panel or by selecting Tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer.
    • Select the Security tab.
    • Click Custom Level.
    • Scroll through the list of security options and set:
    • Download Signed ActiveX controls > Enable or Prompt
    • Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins > Enable or Prompt
    • Script ActiveX Controls Marked Safe For Scripting > Enable or Prompt
    • File Download > Enable
    • Allow Script-initiated Windows Without Size Or Position Constraints > Enable
    • Active Scripting > Enable or Prompt
    • Click OK; click OK again.
