CreateAppPackage fails with APPX0102 / APPX0107 -

    Question

  • Hi guys,

I want to create an app-package in VS 2012 RC via Project -> Store -> Create App Package...
But it simply always fails for some reason.

This is the output with the error messages:

1>C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\AppxPackage\Microsoft.AppXPackage.Targets(1103,9): error APPX0102: A certificate with thumbprint 'xxxxxxxxxx' that is specified in the project cannot be found in the certificate store. Please specify a valid thumbprint in the project file.

1>C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\AppxPackage\Microsoft.AppXPackage.Targets(1103,9): error APPX0107: The certificate specified is not valid for signing. For more information about valid certificates, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=241478.

Who knows whats going on there ?

  • Refer to this page for creating a certificate.  Publisher ID (e.g. the GUID of the publisher) should be used for the Publisher Common Name field.
