Windows Phone 8 Apps, Windows 8 Apps and Windows RT Apps

    Question

  • Hi,

I am going to develop Windows 8 ,windows phone 8 and Windows RT apps using visual studio 2012.So that Windows 8 ,windows phone 8 and Windows RT apps programming code will differ or same programming code. My doubt is if i develop any of one above the same code we will use other two.

My thought is programming code not differ only UI design differ.I have dilemma in this point.

Please anyone confirm it my doubt.

  • Hi,

it should be possible to reuse a lot of code but it is not easy / straight forward to just have one code.

Also keep in mind that you have different use patterns (e.g. scrolling left-right and  up-down!).

But the knowledge of one system will help you on the other systems, too.

That is my personal view and maybe I am not full yup to date because I decided to drop development for Windows Phone and "Windows 8 style" apps afew weeks ago.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • You can reuse most of the code behind by doing good separation on UI. Please read this to get a better idea.
