the nuget package install failed to add the applicationinsights.config file RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been trying to add application insight to my Wp 8.1 app but I keep getting this error.

    I tried to make a new project with application insight added from the start and get same error when I try to configure it.

    Anyone with a good idea? Running VS 2015 RTM and Win 10 RTM

  • Hey Jakli,

    Unfortunately installing/configuring App Insights by right clicking the Context Menu is currently no working.

    To add App Insights please follow the instuctions here:

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-insights-windows-get-started/

    You will have to install the Nuget and then add few lines of code, or if you are starting a new project just make sure that the App Insights check box is enabled on the right side of the New Project dialog.

  • Hello,

    The instructions at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-insights-windows-get-started/ are OK for me, except I have to explicitely pass the instrumentation key to InitializeAsync as my key inside the ApplicationInsights.config file seems to be ignored.

    public App()
    {
        // Application insights
        WindowsAppInitializer.InitializeAsync(AppConfig.ApplicationInsightsKey);

        // (...)
    }

  • Hi Izik

    I am having the same problem but unfortunately the instructions link you have provided does not work.

    I get redirected to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-insights-developer-analytics/ and cannot seem to find any instructions on how to manually setup application insights.

    Any url out there with instructions?

    Kind Regards

    Nikos

  • You get redirected to HockeyApp documentation because that is the recommended way to monitor phone and store applications. You may also want to read this: https://azure.microsoft.com/documentation/articles/app-insights-hockeyapp-bridge-app/
