Any change to policy files in .NET 2? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a library product we release for both .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0. When we release an update we include a policy file to allow existing applications to automatically start using the new version. For .NET 1.1 the policy file works perfectly, but now we are trying to create release a new version of the .NET 2.0 library and the policy file seems to be ignored by the run time.

I find nothing on MSDN that would make me think we need to do anything differently for .NET 2.0 policy files than we did for .NET 1.1.

Has anyone seen this behavior before?

  • Yes, it has been a while but I do remember a compat issue.  What's was new in .NET 2.0 is the processor architecture.  Make sure yours specifies it, your .NET 1.1 version wouldn't.
